Clinical Manager

Josh founded Island Coast Orthopedics in 1996. He worked and studied Orthotics and Prosthetics for nearly 15 years before taking Island Coast Orthopedics full-time in 1999. He has a wealth of experience from working in Miami at a clinic that was affiliated with the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. He was chosen as one of “The Young Turks in Orthotics and Prosthetics” by the Orthotic and Prosthetic Business News in the mid-1990s.

Throughout the 1990s, he helped lead Florida to develop licensing and a standard of care that is one of the very best nationally. He has served as President of both the Florida Association and Florida Academy over the years. In addition, he has met with the Director of Medicaid to improve and increase insurance coverage.
He has always had a love for pediatrics and has combined his expertise with new high tech techniques and to improve patient outcomes. In the last ten years, he has led the charge into 3D Scanning while exploring new materials and techniques such as Carbon Graphite and 3D Printing. He has used this to assist with fabrication of the industry standard Rigo-Cheneau brace for Scoliosis.

Now, not such a “Young Turk” anymore after over 40 years experience, Josh leans into his experience (he still receives referrals for metal leg and spinal braces), while using the most recent technology to optimize his outcomes. He is currently evaluating and studying the future impact of Artificial Intelligence in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Josh is not bilingual, but does know some Spanish and Russian. He has a BS in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Florida International University in Miami. He enjoys sports, reading and history in his spare time along with spending time with his large family.

Arlene Ryder

Office Manager

Arlene joined Island Coast Orthopedics in 2016. She had previously managed a Freight Forwarding Company and her management skills quickly became apparent. She put those skills to work at Island Coast Orthopedics, developing smoother work flows and clerical programs. In 2022, Arlene led the office into the electronic age with the implementation and training of our new Office system. This has simplified the workflow even more while shortening times involved to move paperwork forward.

She is also a fighter, Arlene is fearless and is always willing to fight for patients rights with their insurance companies. Thru proper documentation, appeals, and phone calls she has had many negative decisions become positive ones, leading to wonderful outcomes for the involved clients.

Arlene has a BA in Business and has worked for nearly 35 years in transportation and healthcare. She is bilingual in English and Spanish while continuing to study other languages. Arlene is considered a wonderful asset to Island Coast Orthopedics.

Assistant Office Manager

Rosie started at Island Coast Orthopedics four years ago and has become a fixture at the front desk with her friendly personality. Prior to this, she worked in the financial industry for several years.

Rosie oversees scheduling for the whole office. She also is the one you may speak to on your initial phone call or visit to Island Coast Orthopedics. She is the one who will take your information, schedule you and get you to the proper clinician for the best care we can provide.

Rosie has a BA in Business and has been working in the healthcare or financial industries for over 20 years. In addition, she is bilingual in both English and Spanish.

Manny Casares

Technician

Manny joined Island Coast Orthopedics in 2012, while still in High School. He started at the rock bottom with cleaning and technical work. He has been constantly trained and challenged to improve and today, he is our lead Technician and Pedorthist.

He has 1000s of hours of on the job training and education. He has done continuous education annually and has attended many specialty courses over the years.

His patients like his caring manner and the way he pays attention to details. His younger ones love him for looking like a Big Teddy Bear. Manny enjoys his daily patient interactions and is always studying to improve his ability to take better care of his patients.

He is Bilingual in English and Spanish and is often called to help his fellow employees who are limited in their use of Spanish.
